Connect Your Zillow or Apartments.com Multifamily Contract with RentEngine

If you have a Zillow or Apartments.com paid contract, you’ll need to take a small but important step to connect it to your RentEngine listings and ensure everything flows smoothly through a single source.

When is this required?

This applies in the following cases:

  • Zillow requires a paid Multifamily contract for any building with 25 or more units.
  • Apartments.com requires a paid contract for any building with 4 or more units, and they technically allow only up to 10 active listings per property manager across your entire portfolio.

(This would be a great support article for future reference.)

If either of these conditions applies to your portfolio, you’ll need to email your listing provider to authorize RentEngine as your official feed.

The 3-Step Process (applies to Zillow and Apartments.com)

Step 1 — Email your representative (and CC RentEngine)

Send an email to your Zillow or Apartments.com rep and CC [alex@rentengine.io]() and [isaac@rentengine.io]().

Use this template:

Subject: Feed Transfer Request – RentEngine

Hi there,

We’d like to apply our paid contract to properties syndicated via the RentEngine feed.

Here are a few example properties:

[Insert a few addresses here]

Please let us know if anything else is needed to move forward.

Thanks,

[Your Name]

This initial request must come from you (the contract holder).

Step 2 — RentEngine replies with technical details

We’ll reply on the same thread with building names, property IDs, and any feed metadata the provider needs. No further action is required from you in this step.

Step 3 — Provider confirms the change

Zillow or Apartments.com will confirm once the feed is switched. Your listings will then publish from RentEngine only.

If you previously had other feeds (e.g., AppFolio, Rentvine), ask your rep to disconnect them to avoid duplication.

Suggested line to include in your email:

“Please disconnect any other syndication feed. I would like all listings to be powered exclusively by the RentEngine feed.”

If you have a Zillow contract for Single Family Homes

The process is the same. Email your Zillow rep (CC RentEngine) using this adapted template:

Subject: Single Family Syndication – RentEngine Feed Authorization

Hi there,

We have a paid Single Family contract with Zillow and would like all rental listings to be syndicated via the RentEngine feed going forward.

Here are a few example properties:

[Insert a few addresses here]

Please confirm once the RentEngine feed is active for our Single Family rentals. If any other feeds are currently connected (e.g., AppFolio, Rentvine), please disconnect them so RentEngine is the only source.

Thanks,

[Your Name]

RentEngine will reply with the relevant property IDs after your message is sent, and Zillow will confirm when the change is complete.

Apartments.com (CoStar) specifics

Same 3-step process as above. Use this template with your Apartments.com rep (CC RentEngine):

Subject: Apartments.com Feed Authorization – RentEngine

Hi there,

We have a paid contract with Apartments.com and would like all of our rental listings to be syndicated via the RentEngine feed going forward.

Here are a few example properties:

[Insert a few addresses here]

Please confirm once the RentEngine feed is active for our account. If any other feeds are currently connected (e.g., AppFolio, Rentvine), please disconnect them so RentEngine is the only source of listing data.

Thanks,
