Troubleshooting "Entry Error" on Your CodeBox Lockbox

If your CodeBox lockbox displays "Entry Error" when entering a code, it typically means one of the following issues has occurred:

  • The date and/or time set on the lockbox is incorrect.
  • The code being used was generated for a different date than today.


Why Does This Happen?

Each CodeBox lockbox code is valid only for the specific date it was generated for. For example, if you generate a code for June 28th but attempt to use it on June 29th, the lockbox will display "Entry Error". Similarly, if the lockbox’s internal date is set incorrectly (e.g., the lockbox thinks today is July 5th when it’s actually June 29th), even a valid code will not work and you’ll see the same error.


How to Fix the "Entry Error"

Note: Updating the date, time, or daylight savings settings on your lockbox requires your 6-digit admin/agent code and must be done directly on the physical lockbox—it cannot be done remotely.


Steps to Set the Date and Time on a CodeBox Lockbox

  1. Enter Admin/Agent Code:
    Key in your 6-digit admin/agent code and press <ENTER>.
  2. View Current Time:
    The current time setting will scroll across the display.
  3. Wait for Command Prompt:
    After about 5 seconds, the screen will display "Select CMD:" at the top.
  4. Update the Date:
    Press ` to update the date. Enter the date in MM/DD/YY format, then press `[Enter] to proceed to the time setting.
  5. Set the Time:
    Enter the hour and minutes. Press `` to toggle AM/PM.
    You’ll also be prompted to set the duration for keypad illumination after dark (enter "00A" to disable this feature). Press [Enter] to continue.
  6. Adjust Daylight Savings Time (DST):
    The DST option should be set to "1" or "on." The lockbox is programmed to adjust for DST within a week of the official change, as the exact date varies each year. Confirm the setting and press [Enter].
  7. Set Showing Window/Access (Optional):
    Press `` to update the showing window. Enter the start and end times for allowed showings (e.g., ST: 08A, ED: 09P).


Additional Notes

  • At any "SELECT CMD" screen, pressing 0 will return you to a blank screen.
  • When entering numbers, pressing 0 will insert a zero into the field—be cautious to avoid unintentional changes when exiting.
    If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, double-check that the lockbox’s date and time match the current day and that you are using the correct code for today’s date.
