What Should I Do When Changing a Listing’s Showing Method?
When switching a property's showing method in RentEngine (e.g., from accompanied to self-guided, or vice versa), it's important to follow the correct steps to avoid disrupting existing appointments or confusing prospects. Here's the recommended process:
Cancel Existing Showings
- Go to the Showings Calendar and cancel all existing scheduled showings for the property.
Update the Showing Method
- In the property editing flow (Properties > Take Action > Edit Property > Step 2), change the showing method to the new option (accompanied, self-guided, or lockbox).
- Make sure to save your changes by clicking “Next” through each step until you complete the property editing flow.
Reschedule Showings
- Go to the Command Center.
- Manually reschedule each showing that was previously canceled.
- Use the Actions > Schedule Showing feature to reassign a new time slot.
- Let each prospect know the system has been updated and they should now follow the instructions from the most recent message they receive.

Changing the showing method mid-process can create confusion or result in missed appointments if not done carefully. Following these steps ensures that prospects receive the correct instructions and access, while maintaining an accurate showing record.
