Command Center Overview – What You Can Do
The Command Center is the heart of RentEngine's lead communication system. It's where all prospect interactions come together—whether they come from your website (make sure to keep your RentEngine widget updated!) or external listing platforms, they will land here.
Unlike other platforms, RentEngine gives you full visibility into your prospect’s contact information—nothing is hidden.
Here’s what you can do from the Command Center:
Unreplied Message Indicators
When you see a black dot next to a conversation, it means the message hasn’t been replied to yet—not that it’s unread. This is intentional and helps avoid missing any response.
Logging Activity or Taking Action
When clicking into a prospect, you’ll see the "Action" button that opens a dropdown with several options:
- Send Schedule Link (Showing Desired): Quickly send a self-service link to the prospect so they can schedule on their own.
- Schedule Showing: Directly schedule a showing for the prospect. You can override available times and agents if needed, and customize the draft message.
- Send Application: Send the application directly from RentEngine. If you use AppFolio, RentVine, Buildium, or Boom, contact us to enable sync.
- Blocklist Prospect: Prevents the prospect from scheduling any future showings.
- Assign to User: Manually assign the prospect to someone on your team.
- Log Note: Add internal notes that only your team can see.
- Mark Status (e.g. Not Interested, Unresponsive, Withdrawn, Application Received/Approved/Rejected, etc.): Track the journey of a prospect manually using these log options.
- Lease and Move-In Statuses: Log important leasing milestones like Lease Sent Out, Lease Signed, Deposit Received, or Moved In.
Calling and Receiving Calls
You can make and receive calls directly from RentEngine. Be sure to:
- Allow microphone access
- Subscribe to notifications by clicking the bell icon in the bottom-right corner

Message Types and System Indicators
- Gray boxes: Messages from the prospect
- Black boxes: Messages from your team or RentEngine AI
- Blue boxes: Internal-only events or statuses (e.g., prescreening answers, showing feedback)
Hover over any blue box to see who triggered the action.

Editing Prospect Information
- You can edit a prospect’s name and email by clicking next to the fields in the top bar of the conversation.
- Phone numbers cannot be changed, as they are the unique tracking identifier for each prospect.
Assigning Listings to a Prospect
- At the top of the conversation, click the dropdown and select Add Prospect.
- Their contact info will be auto-filled.
- Choose a different listing.
- You will then be able to switch between listings this prospect is interested in, making the thread easier to manage internally. The experience remains seamless for the prospect.
Follow-up Sequences
RentEngine automates follow-up messages to prospects. You can control the timing and content of these messages directly from within the Command Center.

Archive/Snooze
- Archive Prospect: Click the clock icon next to their name and select Archive. Note: Prospects cannot be deleted.
- Snooze/Reminder: Use the same clock icon to snooze a conversation and get a reminder to follow up later.
Search and Filtering Options
Use the top-left search and filter bar to narrow down conversations by:
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
You can also apply filters:
- Team Member (assignee)
- Lookback Period (e.g. 2 weeks)
- Unanswered messages only
- Paused follow-ups only
- Prospect Status
