How prospects schedule a showing

This guide shows you how interested prospects schedule a showing through RentEngine:

1) Click Schedule a Showing

From the listing page, the prospect taps the Schedule a Showing button.

2) Pick date & time

They choose an available day and time from the calendar, then continue.

3) Enter contact info

They provide their name, mobile number, and email so we can send confirmations and reminders.

4) Answer prescreening questions

Before confirming, they answer a short set of questions you added to your Prescreening Template in RentEngine.

5) Verify identity (ID + selfie, if required)

If enabled in Fraud Guard, the prospect is asked to:

  • Take a photo of a government-issued ID, and/or
  • Take a quick selfie for match/anti-fraud checks.

Tip: If the camera doesn’t open, the prospect can re-enable camera permissions in their browser/app settings and try again.

If their answers trigger a rejection (based on the criteria in your Prescreening template), the prescreening is denied automatically and your team is notified. You’ll see the full response set in the Command Center, where you can review and manually approve or reject if applicable.

6) Confirmation is sent

If approved:

  • The prospect receives a confirmation text with the date/time and next steps.
  • Your team in RentEngine gets a notification and the showing appears in the Command Center and the Showings Calendar.

Important Note on PM Approval

If the setting “Require PM Approval for Showings” is enabled for this property, then showings will not be automatically confirmed. Instead, each request will remain in Pending status until it is approved by a property manager or a team member. The prospect will only receive the confirmation text once the showing has been approved. You can learn more about that feature here: Requiring Property Manager Approval for Showings.
