How to set custom availability for a property

Overview

Each property in RentEngine can be customized for specific showing availability. By default, RentEngine uses the Availability Template you selected when activating the property. You can change this at any time to use a different template or set a custom schedule.

Step 1 — Open the property's showing settings

  1. Go to the Properties tab

  2. Select the property you want to update

  3. Click Take actionEdit property

  4. Click Next to advance to the second step, Showings

Step 2 — Set the availability

  1. Click Availability

  2. Choose one of two options:

Use an Availability Template

This lets you select one of the Availability Templates you've configured in your company showing settings. The property will follow that template's recurring weekly schedule.

Manually set availability

This lets you define a custom recurring weekly schedule for this property. Highlight the time blocks in blue to indicate when showings are available.

Step 3 — Add one-off availability (optional)

If you need to open up availability outside of the recurring weekly schedule:

  1. Scroll down below the showing windows to Add one-off availability

  2. Select the days and times you'd like to have one-off availability at the property

  3. Press Save

Tip: You can use this feature for creating one-off open houses. However, an agent still needs to have availability for this time slot (see Agent Availability)

Step 4 — Save your changes

Press Next to save all changes made to this property's showing settings.

Troubleshooting

I don't see any Availability Templates to choose from

  • Availability Templates are configured in Settings > Showings > Company — make sure at least one template has been created there before selecting this option

My one-off availability isn't showing up

  • Confirm you pressed Save after adding the one-off availability

  • Confirm the dates and times you selected haven't already passed

Best practices

  • Use Availability Templates when you want a consistent schedule across multiple properties — update the template in your company showing settings once and it applies everywhere the template is used

  • Use manual availability when a specific property needs a unique, recurring schedule

  • Use one-off availability for temporary changes like open houses or special access windows, rather than editing your recurring schedule
