How to Customize Prescreening Templates: Duplicate, Reorder, and Move-In Date Questions

Written by Luis S.

Overview

Prescreening templates can be duplicated, reordered, and customized with a preferred move-in date question that can reject prospects who want to move in too far in the future.

Duplicate a template

Copy an existing template instead of building one from scratch.

  1. Go to Settings > Prescreening Templates.

  2. Click the duplicate icon next to the template you want to copy.

  3. Enter a new name and click Duplicate.

The new copy inherits all questions, rules, anti-fraud settings, and permissions.

Reorder questions

Change the order in which prospects see the questions.

  1. Open the template.

  2. Use the six-dot handle on the left of any question.

  3. Drag the question to a new position.

  4. Save the template.

Add move-in date question

Collect a prospect's preferred move-in date and choose whether to reject them based on timing.

  1. Open a prescreening template.

  2. Click New under Prescreening Questions.

  3. Select Preferred move-in date.

The question appears after the Housing Voucher question by default.

Choose how to evaluate the date:

  • Reject if more than X days after earliest move-in date — enter a number of days. By default, this uses your portfolio's move-in timing setting from Settings > Portfolio. You can override the number per template.

  • Do not reject — the date is collected for reference only and never blocks a prospect.

Where rejections appear

When a prospect is rejected because their move-in date is too far out, the reason shows as "Move-in date too far out" in both:

  • Command Center prospect status history

  • Intelligence tab rejection breakdown

Important notes

  • New templates created after this feature release include the move-in date question automatically.

  • For templates created before this feature, if the move-in date question is missing, a prompt appears asking you to add it back. The same applies to the Housing Voucher question.

  • The rejection check uses the unit's earliest move-in date as the starting point. Make sure accurate availability dates are set on units.

  • The validation is based on whichever is later: today or the unit's earliest move-in date.
