How to Make and Receive Calls From Your Phone with RentEngine

You can use RentEngine to make and receive calls directly from your mobile device — just like any phone app — using our Progressive Web App (PWA) version. Here’s how to set it up and start calling in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Add RentEngine to Your Home Screen

To use RentEngine as a phone app, you’ll need to add it to your home screen from Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android). This lets you open it like any other app.

📱 iPhone (Safari)

1. Open app.rentengine.io in Safari.
2. Tap the Share icon (the square with an up arrow).
3. Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
4. Tap Add.

You’ll now see the RentEngine icon on your home screen.

🤖 Android (Google Chrome)

1. Open app.rentengine.io in Chrome.
2. Tap the 3-dot menu in the top-right corner.
3. Tap “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”.
4. Confirm when prompted.

RentEngine will now behave like a native app.

• A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a web-based app that works like a mobile app:
• Opens full-screen (no browser bar)
• Can send notifications
• Uses your device’s microphone and camera
• Once installed, it behaves like any app — but it's always up-to-date because it runs from the web.

Step 2: Open the App and Access the Command Center

Now that RentEngine is installed, tap the icon on your home screen to open it.

1. Open the app and go to the Command Center.
2. As soon as you go there, your device will ask for permission to access your microphone.

Step 3: Allow Microphone Access

To use RentEngine’s web phone, you must allow microphone access. This is how the app lets you speak during calls.

When prompted:

• On iPhone (iOS): Tap Allow
• On Android: Tap Allow while using the site

Once granted, your device will remember this setting — and you won’t be prompted again unless you reset permissions.

Step 4: Enable Notifications (Required for Push Alerts)

To receive real-time push notifications (for incoming calls, text messages, or new prospects), you must allow notifications.

1. Tap the 🔔 bell icon in the bottom-right corner of the Command Center.
2. When prompted, Allow notifications.

You're Ready to Make and Receive Calls

Once permissions are granted, you can:

• Make outbound calls from the green dialer at the bottom.
• Receive incoming calls and respond instantly.
• Get notified of new activity without keeping the app open.
